the story behind

how it all started

You could say I’m old school…I love to work with my hands – they can go from holding a Canon 5D, capturing candid photos to operating a tile saw in a remodel project.  My name is Aleksander and I’ve been in the home improvement industry for over 20 years.

It all started with a love of photography and my dad’s strong work ethic and drive.

As a new immigrant to the United States with 9 kids to feed, my dad had many jobs.  When he was laid off from one of his jobs, he decided to learn how to lay tile in hopes of earning a stable income.  His background in photography came in handy as he learned the new skill.

As I was growing up, my father taught me everything about tile and we would often work on projects together for various builders.

He taught me that upgrading a bathroom is both art and skill.

Just like in a photo, it’s the details that work together to make it look unique and beautiful.

As I got into photography myself, I realized that indeed this art has helped me envision a bathroom’s potential while paying attention to details.

But unlike a candid shot, in the world of tile setting, the details must be precise for all of it to work together.  That’s where the skill comes in.

I’m grateful to my dad that he not only taught me the art side but also passed on the importance of quality and precision.

About 10 years ago, my brothers and I along with my dad built our home using green block ICF (insulated concrete forms – very high R value, energy saving, durable, solid, all extreme weather resistant).  We used these blocks to form the perimeter of the home.  Next step was to pour in the concrete between the walls of the forms but it was tricky, because if the walls were built without enough support, there could be parts that would collapse and would have to be reinforced.

When the concrete company came out to pour, they were impressed and said,

they’ve never seen a first time green block DIY go so well without any breakage whatsoever.

That’s the level of quality that we were expected to have and I’m grateful for my dad’s effort in teaching me to do the job right the first time.

I can confidently say that I’ve continued in the same footsteps and it’s a joy to see happy customers.  We don’t cut corners in our work and we deliver exceptional results.
